Sci Fi Studios is a combination of Hollywood entertainment professionals and global science fiction/fantasy fans, working together to create major motion pictures, television series, comics, graphic novels, games and the ultimate online community. Sci Fi Studios believes that fans and viewers are not just a ratings number or a statistic. More than any other genre, science fiction attracts fans who are loyal, dedicated, and involved. And What better way to cater to the people who value the genre than to develop sci-fi and fantasy products with their input!   TOP   How was Sci Fi Studios created?   Two friends - one a Hollywood insider and one a definite outsider - formed Sci Fi Studios out of their love for science fiction and fantasy and their desire to see the genre continue to evolve. Both Jon Karas and Tim Brazeal, cofounders of the company, realized that Hollywood executives were not nurturing the genre and its fans as they should. So Tim and Jon gathered a few Hollywood friends and a few "not-so-Hollywood"friends to form a company dedicated to promoting the genre by acknowledging its fans and using their input, in co ncert with that of Hollywood professionals, to make incredible productions. Thus, Sci Fi Studios was born.   TOP   What are Sci Fi Studios' goals?   We at SFS are huge science fiction fans ourselves, so we understand that the genre has played a vital role over the last forty years in shaping both us as individuals and our world as a whole. Sci Fi Studios simply wants to see the genre continue to grow. All too often, productions resulting from decisions made at corporate headquarters bear little or no resemblance to what sci-fi fans actually want to see. Even worse, science fiction fans are all too familiar with the heartbreak of losing a much-loved series at the whim of shortsighted business executives. We believe that itis high time for science fiction made by fans as well as for fans! Our ultimate goal is to help create the next multi-decade franchises that fans are proud of and will watch passionately. TOP   Why should I get involved?   Perhaps you've watched your favorite show or film and said to yourself, "You know, it'd be awesome if the creators just added this or changed that." Maybe you want to be part of an organization that makes history by changing the way Hollywood perceives its audience. Or you may simply enjoy quality entertainment and want to join our community and correspond with other sci-fi and fantasy fans. Whatever your interests, whatever your reasons, basic membership in Sci Fi Studios is free, so perhaps a more appropriate question is, "Why shouldn't I get involved?!" This is a global effort, and we encourage fans from around the world to participate and be actively involved in our community. As the Internet allows immediate access from any location on the planet, you will be able to participate regardless of your location! TOP   How will my membership dues be used? Money collected from membership dues will be used toward Sci Fi Studios productions. From the first day of launch, we will present several original stories in graphic novel or storyboard form which could be the basis for films and television series. Our goal is to connect the interest you show by becoming a member with that of co-producers and investors in Hollywood, thereby allowing SFS to develop stories chosen by fans into films, television series, and games. TOP   What will be the level of fan involvement in Sci Fi Studios and SFS productions?     Sci Fi Studios is excited to venture into uncharted Hollywood territory. Never before have the industry's professionals looked to the fans of the sci-fi/fantasy genre for input on the entertainment productions they create. Sci Fi Studios is not just a fan club. SFS will provide many unique possibilities for our members to be a part of all our entertainment ventures. Everything that we do will be original. We will be reaching out to our members as well as some of Hollywood's top professional writers, directors and producers to create the ultimate sci-fi and fantasy content. Our online store will offer a wide variety of graphic novels, dvd's, artwk, clothing and other merchandise to members and non-members. Paid membership, however, has its rewards. We have an exclusive clothing, artwork and memorabilia selection that is only available with paid membership.   TOP   What will enable Sci Fi Studios to begin its first production?   As stated earlier, we have long range goals and plans that will extend into the next century and beyond. However, Sci Fi Studios plans to start our first production well within the first year of opening the website. Response and level of involvement from members will greatly influence how quickly we begin. We want to use our commitment to fan involvement to prove to Hollywood and the larger, more established studios that the science fiction/fantasy genre and its fans cannot be ignored.
