Lucas Moves to Television |
|
What’s next for George Lucas? In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2005, Lucas sat down and discussed his future plans in animation, including a continuation of the Star Wars saga. “I have hundreds of projects that I want to do, and I’m running out of time, I’m afraid, so they’ll never all get done. But we are working. We’ll never let go of “Star Wars.” I’ve told the Saga of Anakin Skywalker – or, should I say, the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker – and now, I will go on and do an animated TV show based on the clone wars using 3-D animation. We’re doing it in Asia, (and we’re) building a studio in Singapore and trying to take advantage of the amazing artistic talents of the Asian community from Japan to India to all over. A lot of them are still trying to move into the 3-D age, and so we are going to see if we can’t speed that process along and build up the animation community there. It’s a chance to get into anime, which I like a lot. “We’re going into television because it’s an easier medium to work in. It’s more fun, there’s not as much pressure and it’s a great world to experimen in. We’ll also continue with special effects and computer animation because let’s face it, the last “Star Wars” was about half computer animation and about half live-action. I would like to think of it as just digital cinema.”
