“Monster Hunter” lands at Spyglass |
|
Spyglass Entertainment has purchased “Spanky Johnson: Monster Hunter,” a spec script written by David Berenbaum, and Dan Fogler is attached to star in the lead role. Berenbaum, who scripted the very popular “Elf,” attached Tony Award winning Fogler to the role himself. According to sources, both have signed seven-figure deals with Spyglass for the project. Fogler is well-acquainted with Spyglass, having signed on to their “Balls of Fury” film, which Spyglass is producing for Rogue Films. Producers on “Monster Hunter” include Roger Bimbaum, Gary Barber and Jonathan Glickman. Executive Producers are Fogler and Derek Evans.
“Monster Hunter” is the story of a man who has struggled all his life with his father’s assertion that he hunts monsters. However, once his father passes away and he is charged with the family business, he realizes there may be some truth behind his dad’s fanciful tales.
Fogler has a very full slate lined up. Since he won the Tony for “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” he has signed to star in “Fanboys” for the Weinstein Company, Todd Phillips’ “School for Scoundrels,” and “The Marconi Brothers,” an indie film. He will also lend his voice to “Rapunzel Unbraided,” an animated film from Disney.
