Director David Slade, who earlier helmed “Hard Candy,” has announced that his next project “30 Days of Night,” will start production in July. The film is an adaptation of Steve Niles’ popular comic about a small Alaska town who is bombarded by a hoard of vampires at the beginning of a month of darkness. It is being written by Brian Nelson, his co-writer on Hard Candy, and earlier drafts were penned by Niles and Stuart Beattie, writers of the hit film “Collateral.”
The film, which will be shot in New Zealand, is being produced by Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures. Casting has not been solidified, so there is a chance that the preliminary start date of July 11th may be postponed.
