With Sci Fi Studios all about inviting and nurturing new talent and feedback in entertainment, it reminds us just how the industry has been shaken up thanks to fandom. No longer is "the biz" such a remote mystery: As fanzines begat professional writers and editors, as CGI visual effects begat a whole generation of space battles and fantasy armies created on a laptop, so now are digital cameras, editing and Internet video channels opening up the booming "hobby" of genre fan films to nearly anyone who takes the leap.

| Charles Ivie | | Chuck Ivie (AKA Prof Chuck) is a retired NASA scientist and college professor. He worked for NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory from 1957 to 1992 on projects ranging from the first unmanned lunar missions to the international space station. He is a licenced pilot with fixed wing and helicopter ratings and has flown experimental jets as part of upper atmosphere research and microgravity simulation. He has taught physics and astronomy at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and has authored over sixty scientific papers on subjects ranging from nuclear reactor maintenance to interstellar vehicle propulsion systems. He is currently owner of C-Four Productions, a small video production company specializing in TV commercials and short indi films. He has written over 30 science fiction short stories that have been published both on the internet and in print.
